It’s Been the Most Amazing 10 years!

When we first opened our doors 10 years ago, on the 18th June 2010, we were entering a world that was new and full of wonder! Coming from a Financial Services background, but having this as a deep held dream, it was a steep learning curve coming into an industry where we play dress up for a living!

Although at this time we knew little about the industry, we knew that our focus would be solely on our brides to provide them with an exceptional experience, whilst actively supporting British design and where possible manufacture. It’s been a pleasure to continue this to this day and we have built wonderful relationships and friendships with both customers and suppliers.

Obviously, we are now looking forward to what the next few years will bring however it’s also an opportunity to reflect on how we’ve grown and what we’ve achieved in what seems a blink of an eye! So, over the last ten years (amongst other things)…

We were featured on Wedding Channel TV in a feature on the close relationship with have with our wonderful local, British designer Nicola Anne. Selecting one of her dresses in the boutique, seeing this made in her Hinckley studio and finally watching it on the catwalk at the UK Wedding Show! A fantastic experience!

One of the early things that surprised, and shocked, us was the poor body image held by nearly all the beautiful brides that come to see us. We were thrilled to be invited to be a sponsor of Miss Natural Curves, promoting positive body awareness, alongside Miss England Jessica Linley. (OMG we look so young… & thin!).

Sponsoring a production of ‘The Wedding Singer’ at the Curve Theatre, Leicester was an amazing experience, attending on the final evening and celebrating the ‘wrap party’ with cast and crew – feeling like a celebrity!

We love a catwalk and have hosted and participated in many shows, several of these for charity. Our models in the vast majority of these shows have been ‘volunteers’ and our endless appreciation goes out each and every ‘model’ who has popped on a Pink Confetti dress and strutted their stuff for us. Also, to all the wonderful hairdressers, make-up artists, stage suppliers, DJ’s, florists, room dressers and performers that have helped to make these events so successful.

Alongside charity catwalk shows we are delighted and proud to have raised over £2000 through fund raising activities for the British Heart Foundation (Pink Confetti Riders in the London to Brighton cycle ride), for Cancer Research, running (hmm… maybe a walking) the Race for Life over several years, MacMillan Cancer Support and supporting local charity’s Rainbows and LOROS.

Our main achievement though, must be helping 100’s of bride’s find their dream dress and accessories for one of the biggest days of their life! Even after 10 years the joy of seeing a bride-to-be find ‘The One’ is still as exciting as it was the first week we opened.

The feedback we’ve received, from our brides, has been amazing and every card, letter Facebook or Google review is greatly appreciated. It’s astounding that this feedback has resulted in us being recognised by so many award bodies and we are humbled by the acknowledgement of the industry our customers, suppliers and peers.

Although we won’t be celebrating our anniversary exactly how we had anticipated ☹ the fact that are able to re-open is fantastic.

We’ve been using our time during lockdown to remodel the inside of the boutique, freshen up the exterior and fit some long overdue new signage! Introducing these changes makes it feel almost as exciting as it did 10 years ago, although by necessity we’ve had to introduce a slightly different way of working we are still aiming the experience to be as fabulous and personal as it was before.

It’s difficult to sum up 10 years in a few words, and to describe our journey so far, but we are immensely proud of what we have achieved and eternally thankful to our customers and suppliers, for their ongoing support and encouragement. However, without family and friends this would not have been possible and my everlasting gratitude is yours – you know who you are and I love you all! Here’s to the next ten years and beyond!

Cheers! Leigh.
